New beginnings!

Well it's that time of year again....time for back to school shopping and tax free weekend.  With Jacob starting back to school it made me think back of some memories of being in school myself.  If you went to Dyer School, you will be able to share some of my memories and I hope that they are as special to you as they are to me!
If you were in Ms. Martha Phelan's Kindergarten Class, you will remember "The Shoe" and "The Rocket".  How many times did we strive to do our best in everything she asked us to do so that we could take a nap "The Shoe" or have the first play time in "The Rocket"?  Now...we probably wouldn't be able to even crawl into that old thing!  We spent many days out on the playground running to the top of the hill playing on the old wooden playground...often pretending we lived in a castle.  And who could forget those HUGE tires that we would each sit in and tell our best friend our deepest secret of the day! I made some of my best friends in that elementary school...(Kristin Roberts, Lauren Martin, Aerial Horner, Anna Fulwood) Those were the days....      And then came the day when we crossed the street! We had made it to Jr. High School! We thought we were Big Dogs!! We had no idea of what would later be in store for us!  Some of my favorite memories of Junior High were when my 8th Grade Class made a giant whale out of plastic and duct tape. We put to much hard work into that project and it was worth it to us in the end. I couldn't believe that when we graduated 8th grade....and cried like we would never see each other again, that in all honesty, our group of friends would never be "the same" anymore.
Our experiences at GCHS were so different that we slowly drifted apart....we all made new friends.  We were still friends in some regards, but our "new friends" began to be the ones that we hung out with the most.  Becoming the Drum Major for the Marching Band and being on the yearbook staff are two memories that I hold very dear to my heart!
I can't believe that this is going to be our 5th year out of school, Class of 2007! Where has the time gone?  I do hope that those friends of mine are doing well and making all of their dreams come true!
